Aromatherapy is one of those things that we all probably lust over when reading the menu of spa treatments. But do you really know what it means and what the benefits are - other than being left feeling totally blissed out? As part of Aromatherapy Awareness Week we’ve pulled together an introduction that will have you floating through life in no time.
What is Aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy is a holistic healing therapy that is used to improve physical and psychological health. It comes in all different shapes and sizes, from massages to diffusers, face masks, body oils and bathing products (yes, ours included!) these are all the ‘therapies’. What they have in common is the use of natural, essential oils that help your mind, body and spirit to regenerate their energy sources. That’s what makes Aromatherapy such a perfect self care practise!
What are Essential Oils?
There is no aromatherapy without Essential Oils. These are concentrated oils that are extracted from special plant cells that can be found below a plant's surface. They are full of naturally occurring vitamins, antibiotics and hormones that have helped the plant thrive in its life. When you engage with aromatherapy practises and treatments - you then get to benefit from these revitalising sources too. Think of them like an instant super vitamin supplement!
